To address the increasing need for nurses and veterinary technicians in Western New York, 91�첥, a private, Catholic college providing a pathway for students to build careers of achievement and lives of purpose, today announced the availability of scholarships for new Fall 2026 applicants. New Trocaire students who commit to the LPN, RN, or veterinary technology programs starting Fall 2026 will be eligible for up to $2,000 for nursing and up to $3,000 for veterinary technology. This funding opportunity would be available annually to both full and part-time students who remain continuously enrolled in their respective program and meet academic requirements.

“As an opportunity college, Trocaire understands the financial burden for many individuals interested in pursuing a new path and the academic requirements needed to achieve their career goals,” said Jason Konesco, executive vice president and chief operating officer, 91�첥. “The demand for qualified nurses and veterinary technicians shows no sign of slowing down and we are committed to helping educate and train the next generation of professionals in these fields.”

This is a limited-time opportunity, with applications for both nursing and veterinary technology due by July 15, 2026 for the fall semester. To be eligible, students must meet all admissions requirements for the program. Scholarships will be prorated based on semester credit hours, with the maximum per academic year being $2,000 for nursing and $3,000 for veterinary technology. Eligible students who file for financial aid may also be considered for additional Trocaire grants and scholarships.

announced today announced today that Patricia Losito, dean of the Catherine McAuley School of Nursing, has received a 2024 Excellence in Health Care Award by Buffalo Business First. Now in its sixth year, the Excellence in Health Care Awards honor extraordinary professionals in the medical and health fields in Western New York.

“Trocaire is proud to see that our new dean of the Catherine McAuley School of Nursing is being recognized as a high achieving professional who has improved the way healthcare is delivered in WNY. Patricia Losito brings her years of expertise in managing a nursing program coupled with her vison for how to help students succeed with her to Trocaire,” said Dr. Bassam Deeb, president, 91�첥. “In her short time here, she has made updates and improvements to ensure our students receive the best education to immediately meet the need of the community upon graduation. Congratulations, Patti, on this well-deserved recognition!”

Losito joined Trocaire in October 2023 as the dean of nursing and is responsible for everything from curriculum development, engaging with faculty and most importantly bringing new ideas to fruition to enhance and ensure all aspects of the nursing program are current. She also serves as president of the Council of Associate Degree Nursing in New York State. Losito resides in Williamsville.

All award recipients, including Losito, will be honored at The Buffalo Business First Excellence in Health Care Awards dinner on June 13.
