His 16-year career as an educator has included instruction and leadership in adult education, workforce development, certification-based career/technical education and project-based learning.
Most recently, he was Bryant & Stratton College鈥檚 information technology program director in the Rochester, NY area. He also previously served as cybersecurity and forensics program director at Fortis College in Ohio.
鈥淒an is a key figure in Trocaire鈥檚 commitment to meeting Western New York鈥檚 need for career-ready technology graduates,鈥 said Vice President of Academic Affairs Dr. Allyson M. Lowe. 鈥淗is unique background and experience makes him the ideal person to lead the TCTI, and to help our students excel as they pursue studies in Cybersecurity and Data Analytics, utilize technology to upskill at a current job or explore another academic degree.鈥
Neville鈥檚 background is similar to many Trocaire students, as he didn鈥檛 pursue higher education until he was in his 30s. His transformation from adult learner into technology professional arose from an internship opportunity, and he hopes to foster that same collaboration and applied experience for TCTI students, potential employers and community partners.
I am honored to have been selected for this role,鈥 Neville said. 鈥淭he TCTI is a state-of-the-art facility鈥攆rom the moment you walk in, you know there is something special happening here. My focus is for the students to earn industry-recognized certifications along with their academic credentials. For employers, the certifications will validate that our graduates have the knowledge, as well as the critical skills, to be workforce-ready.鈥
Neville holds a number of patents, and he is a CompTIA-certified trainer. At Trocaire, he plans on also working with community and industry partners to offer continuing education and workforce development opportunities, including basic internet safety courses.
In addition to Trocaire鈥檚 newly launched Associate in Applied Science programs in Cybersecurity and Data Analytics, the TCTI also houses certificate programs in Applied Analytics and Fundamentals of Data Analytics; a suite of technology certifications through the college鈥檚 Workforce Development arm; and Trocaire鈥檚 other tech-focused academic programs: Healthcare Informatics, Health Information Technology and Computer Network Administration.
